BIVEDA
The BIVEDA organization was established in the year 2001 by people who are committed to building lasting bridges between culture and marginalized communities and groups in the Republic of Bulgaria. The same year the organization was registered under the relevant act of the state for non-profit set-ups.
The Executive Body of the organization is made up of dedicated theatre personalities with experience not only under the bright lights of the stage but also in bringing theatre to groups such as girls subjected to violence, mentally and physically challenged orphan youth. The General Assembly of the organization is made up of 9 youth in the age range of 17 to 40 years. BIVEDA has implemented successfully projects funded by the European Commission, European Union, UNDP, Pro Helvetia and other bilateral and multilateral agencies. The organization has an active pool of trainers who impart their knowledge and skills at national and international training events.
BIVEDA is committed to bring out publications and carry out activities representing different cultures and languages with the aim of encouraging sustainable models of global understanding.
The organization wishes to ensure that culture does not remain accessible exclusively to elite, but reaches and benefits all those who wish to embrace it.
The philosophy of the organization is that art and culture should not be the privilege of any kind of elite, but accessible and understandable by anybody willing and open to get in touch with it, regardless of their social background. Art is used to increase the sensitivity of society to the problems of the marginalized groups, and to promote kindness, tolerance and understanding to the different.
